I have loved granola bars ever since I was a little girl (nothing special I know). I have tried several different recipes at home to recreate something like you get at the grocery store. They have all flopped. They were either way too sweet or didn’t hold together worth a hoot. Then I created this recipe, and I love it! Finally, a granola bar that works for gluten free, dairy free and nut-free families, and it tastes amazing!
I grew up in a food allergy household and when you are used to things that aren’t quite as good as the “normal” version, you get really excited about a dish that is even better than “normal”. Depending on what your families’ allergies are, changing a few ingredients in this recipe will make it work for you. However, the core is the same and the result is delicious!
A Note About Gluten Free Oats + Oat Flour
Oats are naturally gluten free, however if you are feeding these to someone who is actually gluten free you need to make sure to use GF rolled oats and oat flour. Otherwise there might be some contamination which could cause an allergic reaction. Not good! I really like these GF rolled oats and oat flour.

These gluten free granola bars are the perfect substitute for cereal! Just crumble a bar or two up into your preferred milk and enjoy.
Can I Use Butter Instead of Coconut Oil In This Recipe?
Yes, as long as you don’t need it to be dairy free. If you are not catering to dietary restrictions than you can use any combination of fats that equals 3/4 cup.
Can I Use Maple Syrup In These Gluten Free, Dairy Free Granola Bars?
Absolutely! It would be so delicious to switch out some or all of the honey for maple syrup. It just depends on which sweetener you have on hand and what flavor you are going for.
How To Make Gluten Free Granola Bars Recipe
Gather the following ingredients:
3/4 Cup. Coconut Oil
1 Cup. Honey
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
4 1/2 Cup. GF Rolled Oats
1 Cup. GF Oat Flour
1/4 Cup. Flax Seed or Flax Seed Meal
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 1/2 Cup. Add-ins (coconut flakes, chopped almonds and dairy-free chocolate chips)
To Make
Pre-heat oven to 350
Mix rolled oats, oat flour, flax seeds and baking soda together in a large bowl.
Melt together coconut oil and honey then add in the vanilla extract.
Mix the dry ingredients and wet ingredients and add-ins together until well combined.
Press into a parchment paper lined 9×13 glass baking sheet
Bake for 30 minutes until just starting to brown
Pull out of the oven and let cool for 30-45 minutes.
Cut into bars and devour (or store in an airtight container for up to one week)
