If you are overwhelmed by your house you are not alone! This is the time of year to declutter your home. I am feeling the decluttering bug hard this year.
Maybe your are dealing with overwhelm in other areas of your life like me or maybe its just your house. Either way these last few day of 2024 are perfect to get rid of extra clutter!
How Do I Declutter My Home?
Whatever way works for you. For me the best way is Diana K. Whites, Decluttering At The Speed Of Life Process is the best way. It is a progress and only progress method for decluttering. This method of decluttering is perfect for those with ADHD.
Her YouTube channel is full of wonderful help. But use whatever method works best for you. The key is to actually get the stuff out of your house and be able to find what you already have.
Does It Really Matter This Late in The Year?
Yes, everyday matters. I am working on finishing my yearly decluttering checklist (more on this in another post). Only 400+ items to go before the end of the year. If your house stresses you out, than having less stuff in your home with help. Each item and each day matters.
What Should I Declutter?
The list is different for each person but here is a partial list of ideas.
- Trash (including broken items that you are not actually going to fix)
- Hobby supplies for hobbies you no longer do
- Stained and worn out clothes
- Clothes that don’t fit (unless your size varies a lot like mine)
- Clothes that you don’t like
- Books you aren’t going to read or reread
- Kitchen items you don’t use
- Decore you don’t use
- Expired beauty products
- Expired medications
- Shoes you don’t like or wear
- Extra linens
