Does This Whole Wheat Pizza Crust Freeze Well?
I have done some experimenting with freezing our whole meal pizza crust. It works best to freeze the pizzas already baked. It just doesn’t work well to freeze the whole meal pizza crust unbaked.
Can I Make This Half Whole Wheat Pizza Crust?
Yes! This recipe works great if you want to do half whole wheat and half all-purpose flour. You will get a slightly lighter crust this way.
Can I Use Sourdough In This Recipe?
Yes. You will have to do some experimenting with it to get it just right. The rule of thumb is that is you add 1 cup of sourdough starter decrease the flour and water by 1/2 cup. It will take several hours for it to rise instead of 1 1/2 hours.
Can I Make Breadsticks With This Dough?
Yes, though I have yet to master the breadsticks (maybe this year).
Can I Use Whole Wheat Flour From The Store?

Can I Mix This Up By Hand?
Absolutely, this is a very lightly kneaded dough and is super easy to make by hand. Simply mix ingredients together until a shaggy dough forms then turn out onto your clean counter and knead until you have a cohesive dough.
Will My Family Like This Pizza Dough?
I can’t guarantee what your family will like or won’t like. However I have not had anyone that I have fed this to complain about it, and everyone loves it. This along with my whole wheat pancake mix recipe are great baby steps towards eating more whole grains .

Yes, the secret ingredient is the pizza seasoning. Without it this just tastes like bread, add the pizza seasoning and suddenly it tastes like real pizza.
Whole Wheat Pizza Crust Recipe
Gather the following ingredients:
3 1/2 cups Freshly Ground Whole Wheat Flour (learn how to grind your own whole wheat flour here)
1 TBS. Sugar
2 1/2 tsp. Yeast (or one packet of yeast)
2 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 cup. Water
2 TBS. Pizza Seasoning
Step 1.
Mix the water, yeast and sugar together and until it starts to foam, about 5 minutes.

Step 2.
Mix together the flour, salt and pizza seasoning with the water, yeast and sugar mixture. Knead by machine or hand until a cohesive soft dough forms that bounces back when you press on it with your finger.

Step 3.
Let rise in a warm place covered for 1 hour or until doubled.

Step 4.
Preheat your oven to 350. Divide into halves and press onto a well greased baking sheet. Top with your favorite toppings and bake until the cheese has melted and started to brown.

Step 5.
Pull out of the oven and let cool for 15 minutes before eating. It will come off the pan easier and your tongue will thank you.
