Easy to make fajita seasoning recipe to spice up your Taco Tuesday
Since we enjoy Taco Tuesday or at least Tortilla Tuesday every week and I like to mix it up week to week, some weeks are Fajitas others are Tacos of Chalupas. This is the seasoning blend that we have used for almost 20 years in our family, it is Gluten Free, Corn Free and MSG Free meaning you can enjoy it and not regret it later.
Why make your own seasoning blend?
There are two main reasons to make your own seasoning blend, allergies or frugality. For us it is both and I think that the final product is superior. Since we are allergic to both MSG and Corn starch commercially available seasoning mixes are not an option. We can save money by buying our spices in bulk and making the mix in bulk.
How hard is it to make this Fajita Seasoing Recipe?
This recipe is super easy to make, simply measure the ingredients and mix together and enjoy. Remember that it takes a few minutes for the flavor to develop in the dish so start off with adding less than you think you will need and add more later if necessary.
How to make the Fajita Seasoning Recipe:
In a small bowl, combine:
2 TBS Arrowroot Powder
4 tsp Chili Powder
2 tsp Sea Salt
2 tsp Smoked Paprika
2 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1/2 tsp Ground Cumin
What if I don’t like one of the spices or can’t eat them?
Since you are making this recipe you can leave out any of the spices that you really don’t like or can’t digest. However the flavor will change and won’t taste as much like Fajitas.
How long does the Fajita seasoning last for?
While a dried seasoning mix technically lasts forever; it will get less potent as time goes on. Since that is the case it is best to use it up within a year.
