I still don’t get why removable pads in bras are a thing but sadly they are. Even before I was a nursing mom they caused issues, between bunching up during the day or going missing in the wash they never seemed to stay where I wanted them to. Then I learned how to sew in bra pads. Life changing!
Why bother?
Well if you can find the swim suit top/bra with already sewn in pads in your size, style and within your budget, then great! However I very rarely find this unicorn combination. Knowing how to do this opens up many opportunities in your wardrobe.
What Supplies Do I Need?
You need:
A bra with removable pads
Pins
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Scissors
How Long Does It take To Do?
I can do one bra in less than 20 minutes even with distractions.
How To Sew Pads In A Bra
Step 1. Either place the bra on your sewing dummy or put it on inside out. Mark the center of where you want the pad to be.

Step 2. Take off your bra if you were trying it on and carefully cut out a circle of fabric much smaller than your pad.

Step 3. Pin your pad in.

Step 4. Try on the bra (CAREFULLY) to make sure the pad covers your nipples.
Step 5. Though you can do this by hand I don’t recommend it as it will take a long time and not turn out as well. Take your project to your sewing machine, switch your settings to a wide zigzag stich in the color of thread that matches your project. Start sewing using the zigzag stich around the pad, starting and ending with a couple of stiches going backwards to lock in your stiches.

Step 6. Try it on and make sure the pad is where you want it to be.

Step 7. Repeat for the other side.

Step 8. Clip your threads and enjoy your bra!
