For the longest time I thought that making soap at home was difficult and dangerous. This lard and goat milk soap is so easy and if done correctly, very safe.
Every since I was like 4 or 5 I have wanted to make soap so this winter I finally made it for the first time. It was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be and I didn’t burn my self with any lye.
My sister-in-law gave use some really delicious goats milk this winter so I used just a few ounces to make this soap with. Lard goat milk soap is my husband’s favorite soap for taking grease, dirt and grime off of his hands after a long day working on the farm and turning wrenches.
I love this soap because it does not dry out my hands no matter how many times I wash them. And I have to wash my hands a lot!

Can I Use Cows Milk Instead of Goat Milk in this soap?
Yup. You can use any animal milk or you can use all water instead of milk in this recipe.
Can I Use Just Lard For My Fat In The Recipe?
First if you change any of the amounts please use a lye calculator like this one. Secondly from my understanding pure lard soap would be to soft to hold together, but it is on my list to try out.
Is It Safe To Make?
Yes as long as you follow some simple safety steps. First when handling the lye wear eye protection, long sleeves and gloves. Secondly never, ever under any circumstances put the water into the lye. Always put the powdered lye into water.
How Long Does It Take To Make Lard And Goat Milk Soap?
Most likely it will take around 1.5 hours to get to the point that the soap is in the molds. The soap is safe to used once it is cooled but if you want the pretty molded soap it needs to sit in the mold for 12-24 hours.

Do You Have To Use Distilled Water In This Recipe?
Yes and no. You are supposed to and depending on what is in your water is could react to the ingredients in the soap. Leading to soap that has a funny texture.
However both times I I have made this recipe I have forgotten and used tap water. The first time the texture was off though.
What Is The Safe PH For Soap?
Between 9-10 is the ph at which the soap is safe to use on skin.
