Enjoy a delicious cup or quart of lactation/breast feeding tea at home for less with this blend.
With the cost of everything rising at the store, more and more I want to make as much from scratch as I can. Not to mention that most of the lactation teas found in the stores are not loose-leaf which means they may contain unwanted ingredients in the tea bags themselves. My solution? This DIY lactation tea recipe, enjoy!
Why bother to make your own tea blend?
There are 3 main reasons to make your own tea blends at home:
1. The cost. Firstly it is cheaper to make most of your own tea blends at home. Added to the cost of the ingredients the fewer times you go to the store or online shopping the less you will spend.
2. The ingredients. Making your own tea blends allows you to customize your tea to your liking or dietary issues and allows you to have quality control.
3 The Convivence. I live 30 minutes away from a grocery store and my favorite store to shop at does not carry herbal teas which means I have to go to a different store to purchase them. Additionally this adds time and another stop to my list.

How does this DIY lactation tea recipe blend taste?
Fantastic! This is by far the best lactation tea taste wise I have ever tasted. Instead of tasting medicinal it tastes like a delightful warming and slightly spicy tea.
How long will this DIY lactation tea recipe blend last for?
As with any herbal or spice blend its potency will go down over time. However if no moisture gets into it and its stored out of direct sunlight it should be good for a year or more.

How much of the nursing tea blend do I use?
Firstly choose if you want to make a cup or a quart of tea. I find that for a single cup of tea you need 1 Tablespoon of the lactation tea blend but for a quart of tea you need 1/4 cup of the lactation tea blend.
How do I brew the DIY lactation tea recipe?
I find the easiest way to brew this breastfeeding tea blend is to boil some water and pour over the herbs, letting it steep at least 5 minutes but up to a half an hour. After it has steeped the desired amount of time simply strain off the herbs using a fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth.
What do I do with the herbs after I make my tea?
I either compost them or feed them to my chickens which love them!
