My no spend January is over, did I reach my goals?

January has come and gone along with my no spend challenge. For the month I had four rules.
- No shopping or window shopping (including online shopping)
- Buy only necessary groceries.
- Limit driving to reduce spending on gas.
- No eating out.
Lets go through the rules and see how I did.
Rule 1. No shopping or window shopping
I slipped up a few times and caught myself window shopping online. But overall, I was able to keep this rule, I didn’t even go to the bag sale at our local kids consignment store.
Rule 2. Buy only necessary groceries
So my goal was to keep to a $100 grocery budget and I did except for a few exceptions. We butchered our pigs on February 2nd, so we had to pick up a few extra groceries to feed the crew and some herbs for our sausage recipes. Other than that we made the goal.
Rule 3. Limit driving
Check! I stayed home basically all month, so we were able to save on gas.
Rule 4. No eating out
This one I kind of broke. We ended up going to a comedy show for my husband’s birthday and used a gift card to go out to eat afterwards.
Did we get the Bosch?
No we did not. Unfortunately, because of some bills that went up and Carey had to take some days off of work we just could not swing it. I am sure that at some point we will get one but not this month.
What financial challenge should I do next?
I find that doing financial challenges every now and then is a good way to keep track of our spending and savings. What one should I do next? What is your favorite one you have done?
